The Geocartographic Cultural Heritage of the Establishing Museum of Geography of Sapienza University of Rome: from Tools of Use to Cultural Heritage Scientific tools held at universities and other research institutions are today considered cultural heritage in all respects, despite the legislative delay compared to other types of property. The geocartographic cultural heritage kept in the Institute, formerly Cab-inet, of geography of the Sapienza University of Rome constitute a precious historical testimony of the teaching and research activities that have taken place at that location since its establishment in 1876. Scientific cultural heritage recovery and enhancement are in progress, for this purpose studies are searching for the most suitable methods of inventorying, cataloging and digitization, as well as organization of the data that is collected in these phases. In particular, a database has been implemented aimed at relating different types of goods that share common elements, in this way it makes possible to conduct overall research on the collections under study. These researches, together with educational projects and events open to the public, move towards the establishment of the Geography Museum as the main social context for the promotion of geographical culture.
