Italy is located in the convergence zone between the African and theEurasian tectonic plates. Given its particular geographical position, thiscountry bears one of greatest seismic risks1within the Mediterranean. So, it is subjected to strong compressive forces, which cause the over-lapping of the line of stone's blocks. Italy has a long history of devas-tating earthquakes causing significant destruction and life losses. Themain seismic events registered over the last century include: Irpinia in1907, Messina and Reggio Calabria with 120,000 victims in 1908,Avezzano with 30,000 victims in 1915, Bisaccia and Lacedonia with1404 victims in 1930, Friuli Venezia Giulia with 989 victims in 1976,Campania with 2914 in 1980, L'Aquila with 309 victims in 2009.The present paper reports casuistic data referring to the last seismicevent occurred in central Italy on August 2016. Amatrice and Accumoli- medieval villages - were affected. The earthquake took place in thesummer; in that period the inhabitants were mainly constituted byolder people (both local and tourists) because young tourists wouldonly rarely spend their summer holidays in a small mountain villagelike Amatrice or Accumoli. This work will impact readers by providing an effective protocol forthe management of the deceased and on the systematic acquisition ofdata during corpse processing.
