Artistic culture, education, and design in the 1920s. The centenary of three Schools: VKHUTEMAS, Bauhaus, Faculty of Architecture of Rome / Художественная культура, образование и дизайн 1920-х годов. Столетие трех школ: ВХУТЕМАС, Баухауз и Факультет архитектуры Римского университета.

100-летие ВХУТЕМАСа совпадает со столетием Баухауза в Веймаре и основанием архитектурного факультета Римского университета Ла Сапиенца. Автор анализирует взаимное влияние итальянского футуризма и русского авангарда, сравнвает три института, находившихся под сильным влиянием политического, экономического, социального и культурного контекста своих стран в революционную эпоху. ВХУТЕМАС близок Баухаузу, а архитектурный факультет Рима (на котором история архитектуры была основой преподавания дизайна) отличается гибким подходом к традициям и инновациям. Это видение имело целью подготовить нового профессионала в сфере проектирования: архитектора-универсала, художника, литератора и инженера-конструктора. Школы развивались с течением времени, различия сглаживались, что позволяет провести сравнение, обозначить научно-культурное сотрудничество, которое рассматривает эти различия как взаимное обогащение.

The centenary of VKHUTEMAS coincides with that of the Bauhaus in Weimar and with the foundation of the Faculty of Architecture of Sapienza University of Rome. The author analyzes the mutual influences between Italian Futurism and the Russian avant-gardes, develops comparison between the three institutions, strongly influenced by their political, economic, social and cultural contexts. While VKHUTEMAS has an affinity with the contemporary Bauhaus, the Faculty of Architecture of Rome stands out for an approach between tradition and innovation, where the history of architecture was the foundation of teaching design. This vision had the aim of training a new professional figure: the “integral architect”, artist, man of letters and technician. Also for these assumptions, in Italy, a specific design training offer was started only in the early nineties of the twentieth century. The Schools have evolved over time and the differences have diminished, today it is possible to make a comparison and a common scientific-cultural collaboration that considers these differences as a mutual enrichment.
