The study concentrates on the process of analysis carried out on both the wooden model and on the data acquired by laser scanning, for the realization of a three-dimensional computer /?/ model of the one constructed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger for the new St. Peter's. The aim is to avoid reducing everything to one virtual reconstruction of the three-dimensional model, but rather to analyze and develop – units or 'cells' and their composition through the study of details – also by comparing them with other surviving models of Sangallo. The route taken was from the general to the particular and back. Described in the study is not only the way in which the systems of "abaci" are conceived for each "cell-level", but also their geometric construction, their measurement and comparison with the units of the period, and the comparison of other works built on the basis of other studies.

Abstract
The study concentrates on the process of analysis carried out on both the wooden model and on the data acquired by laser scanning, for the realization of a three-dimensional computer /?/ model of the one constructed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger for the new St. Peter's. The aim is to avoid reducing everything to one virtual reconstruction of the three-dimensional model, but rather to analyze and develop – units or 'cells' and their composition through the study of details – also by comparing them with other surviving models of Sangallo. The route taken was from the general to the particular and back. Described in the study is not only the way in which the systems of "abaci" are conceived for each "cell-level", but also their geometric construction, their measurement and comparison with the units of the period, and the comparison of other works built on the basis of other studies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
