Abstract
The linguistic legitimation of the pre-Indo-Iranian substratum's existence, recognizable in the undocumented language of the Oxus civilization, is not adequately demonstrated, if one wants to use the etymologies here discussed as proof. In particular for a group of etymological equations it has been possible to find a more economic IE. etymology (OInd. ís?t?ak?-, OP. išti- ‘brick’; OInd. ks??rá-, Phl. š?r ‘milk’; OInd. var?há-, Av. var?z ‘wild boar’). In the case of the donkey’s name (LAv. xara, OInd. khara-) it has emerged that it’s a question of loanword, but nevertheless deriving from semitic adstratum. Moreover the supposed anomalous correspondences among Old Indian and Old Iranian (OInd. ph- , OIr.*sp- in the reflexes of IE.*(s)phel-; OInd. -dh- ~ OIr. *-t- in OInd. gandhá- e LAv. gain?ti-; OInd. k- e OIr. *g- in OInd. ké?a and LAv. ga?sa-) are fully Indo-European.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
