Sui mosaici delle cappelle del Battistero Lateranense. I restauri degli anni Quaranta del Novecento

The study of the mosaics restorations of the Lateran baptistery led by masters hired by the direction of the Vatican Museums in the Forties of the twentieth century, reveals an interesting picture of the culture of restoration at the time. The intervention focuses on the methods of consolidation of the mosaic surface, on the treatment of the lacunas and on the variegated documentation techniques that, in particular, bear witness to a high level of updating on the international panorama typical of the first half of the twentieth century.
