Starting from the issue of asymmetry not only in the quantitative production of the Italian lexicon of verba dicendi and verba recipiendi which is common in many other languages, we will try to bring forward the reflection on the characteristics and possible causes of this asymmetry and to observe and describe (a) the main types of verbs used to mean the physical and cognitive act of receiving and understanding language, (b) uses of language associated with verba recipiendi (VR), where these differ from those of their counterparts in production, (c) take into account the incidence in the spoken text and in the writing of these linguistic uses.

Abstract
Starting from the issue of asymmetry not only in the quantitative production of the Italian lexicon of verba dicendi and verba recipiendi which is common in many other languages, we will try to bring forward the reflection on the characteristics and possible causes of this asymmetry and to observe and describe (a) the main types of verbs used to mean the physical and cognitive act of receiving and understanding language, (b) uses of language associated with verba recipiendi (VR), where these differ from those of their counterparts in production, (c) take into account the incidence in the spoken text and in the writing of these linguistic uses.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
