In order to evaluate the clinical validity of the so called 'atropine test', it has been performed in 83 women in their 35th to 43rd wk of pregnancy. A statistical evaluation of the data has shown a serious limitation of both diagnostic and prognostic possibilities of the test; this can be attributed to the great variability of maternal environments.
