I quotidiani locali raccontano l’immigrazione. Luoghi e storie di un’altra Sardegna

The article presents the results of a research carried out by the two main Sardinian newspapers in 2005, aimed at building the representations of the migrant people and the migration processes made by local mass media.The first part is about the new immigrants as they are described by the local journalists. The second part is a trip through the places used a backgrounds inside those news having foreign men and women as main characters. Going from historical centres to ambiguous suburbs and proceeding through slipways and building sites, tonnages and coal cellars, the investigation explores the changes and the mixing of different cultures in the most picturesque places in Sardinia.

L’articolo presenta i risultati di una ricerca effettuata sui due principali quotidiani sardi, "La Nuova Sardegna" e "L'Unione Sarda", nel 2005, con l’obiettivo di ricostruire le rappresentazioni che i mass media locali producono e diffondono sui migranti e sui mutamenti culturali provocati dall’immigrazione. La prima parte ricostruisce le figure dei nuovi immigrati così come sono narrate dai giornalisti locali. La seconda è un viaggio attraverso i luoghi dell’isola che fanno da sfondo alle cronache con protagonisti donne e uomini stranieri: dai centri storici alle periferie equivoche, proseguendo per scali e cantieri, stazzi e carbonaie, l’indagine si inoltra a esplorare le trasformazioni e il mescolamento delle culture nei territori più caratteristici della Sardegna.
