In the De domo, Cicero defines Clodius as 'a torch' (fax): with a torch he committed Cicero's home to the flames, and Cicero identifies himself with his home, as if Clodius would have committed him to the flames. Cicero did something similar in the Pro Milone, in order to pathetise the speech, but also in order to present himself as an hypostasis of the Fatherland, threatened by the torches of the rebels.

Abstract
In the De domo, Cicero defines Clodius as 'a torch' (fax): with a torch he committed Cicero's home to the flames, and Cicero identifies himself with his home, as if Clodius would have committed him to the flames. Cicero did something similar in the Pro Milone, in order to pathetise the speech, but also in order to present himself as an hypostasis of the Fatherland, threatened by the torches of the rebels.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
