Modern socio-technical systems call for a reconsideration of current notions and practices related to risk and safety management. Disruptive technologies have changed the way humans interact with each other or with technical artefacts, and the way they behave within organizations and societies. As a consequence, new approaches are needed to understand and explore the inherent complexity due to such interactions. The discipline of Resilience Engineering aims to deal with this aspect and make current and modern socio-technical systems - or even societies - able to sustain operations under expected, or unexpected, criticalities. This document summarize the main aspects of Resilience Engineering, and the potential for its applicability in a wide range of systems.

Abstract
Modern socio-technical systems call for a reconsideration of current notions and practices related to risk and safety management. Disruptive technologies have changed the way humans interact with each other or with technical artefacts, and the way they behave within organizations and societies. As a consequence, new approaches are needed to understand and explore the inherent complexity due to such interactions. The discipline of Resilience Engineering aims to deal with this aspect and make current and modern socio-technical systems - or even societies - able to sustain operations under expected, or unexpected, criticalities. This document summarize the main aspects of Resilience Engineering, and the potential for its applicability in a wide range of systems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
