Tacito "Annales" XIV 53-56. Una riflessione

The paper deals with the interpretation of a much discussed passage in Tacitus’ Annals (XIV, 56), where the text lacks a perfect coherence and a mention of Vitellius, Claudius, and Volusius breaks the general symmetry of the composition. Discussing the emendations proposed since the XIXth century and reconsidering the structure of the whole passage, a new possible interpretation for the reference to Volusius is suggested.

L'articolo affronta l'interpretazione di un passo degli Annales di Tacito che presenta un testo in cui il riferimento ad alcuni personaggi (Vitellio, Claudio, Volusio) interrompe una composizione simmetrica. Ripercorrendo le diverse emendazioni proposte e riesaminando la struttura più generale del passo si propone quindi una diversa soluzione.
