Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease, affecting the tissues surrounding the teeth. Periodontitis may be linked to other diseases such as chronic obstructive airways disease, chronic kidney disease, cognitive impairment, metabolic syndrome, some types of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis.Secukinumab is a valid therapeutic option for psoriatic patients with a recent diagnosis of periodontitis. Further studies are needed to better investigate the role of anti-IL-17 in patients with periodontal diseases.
