In this work, the authors propose a statistical evaluations about unerupted third molar extraction, drawn by a sample of 113 patients for a total of 153 extracted molars among 184 observed ones. After an examination of the morphologic and topographic variations of impaction classification according to some other authors, an evaluation of the following features has been made: impaction site, class, and position; root morphology; radiographic observation; and radiographically un-observed anomalies. With regard to the surgical technique use, data refer to the type of muco-periosteal incision and tooth section; the results of the examined sample are then evaluated. In the 15%of the sample third molars were impacted; in 62% there was a bilateral impaction in a typical site. The highest frequency was between 16 and 27 years of age and females were more interested than men., with a 2:1 ratio. The most frequent position was the mesioangular (38.6%). From statistycal data, evaluations emerged about the relationship between root morphology and relation with the mandibular canal, with particular regard to the complications on nferior alveolar nerve (3.£%, always temporary and with complete sensitivity recovery. The authors lastly proposed therapeutic considerations about muco-èeriosteal incision and tooth section in relation to tooth position and root morphology, except for the anatomical unfavourable cases, a "bayonet incision", simple tooth section and, anyway, a less demolishing as possible intervention seem preferable.

Abstract
The authors lastly proposed therapeutic considerations about muco-èeriosteal incision and tooth section in relation to tooth position and root morphology, except for the anatomical unfavourable cases, a "bayonet incision", simple tooth section and, anyway, a less demolishing as possible intervention seem preferable.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
