Non solo Giuseppe Pistocchi: Gioacchino Tomba e il «pub.co Pelatojo nella città di Faenza»

One of the most crucial tasks of the second half of the 18th century was the construction of butchers: specific buildings addressed to a work despised due to its nauseating smells. In Romagna, a peripheral province of the Papal State, all the major cities succeeded in this operation except Faenza and Ravenna. Particularly, the first one tried to transform this duty in an opportunity, celebrating through the architecture the decorum of the community. So, the famous architect Giuseppe Pistocchi (1744-1814) was commissioned to the project, after a previous design – an idea of the local master builder Gioacchino Tomba (1739-1820) – was rejected.
