Studio iconografico, raddrizzamento fotografico e proporzionamento per la ricostruzione dell'Arco di Traiano di Augusta Emerita

The study of the arch of Trajan, of Augusta Emerita was inspired by the fact of being one of the most emblematic monuments of the Spanish city of Merida (Extremadura) monographically never studied. To overcome this lack of systematic studies of reference was set to a general search on the structure, starting from the historical survey based on archival documents available since the sixteenth century, stemming from observations gathered by travelers, and the ancient iconographic documentation that the magnitude of 'arc has inspired centuries ago. The analysis of these historiographical documents has been introduced with the aim to better understand the structure of the building in its today's shape and its current condition. In parallel with the iconographic study was conducted a survey based primarily on the photographic straightening, and the results were subjected to a further study metric proportional, in order to identify the "rules" to which underlay the construction of the arc.

Lo studio dell’arco di Traiano di Augusta Emerita prende spunto dalla circostanza di essere uno dei monumenti emblematici della città spagnola di Merida (Estremadura) mai studiato monograficamente. Per ovviare a questa assenza di studi sistematici di riferimento è stata impostata una ricerca generale sulla struttura, a cominciare dalla indagine storico archivistica basata sulle notizie presenti sin dal XVI secolo, scaturite dalle osservazioni raccolte dai viaggiatori, e sulla documentazione iconografica antica che la grandezza dell’arco ha ispirato nei secoli scorsi. L’analisi di questi documenti storiografici é stata realizzata con l’obiettivo di comprendere meglio la struttura dell’edificio nella sua conformazione odierna ed il suo attuale stato di conservazione. Parallelamente allo studio iconografico è stato condotto un rilievo basato principalmente sul raddrizzamento fotografico; i risultati sono stati sottoposti ad un ulteriore studio metrico proporzionale, al fine di individuare le “regole” alle quali sottostava la costruzione dell’arco.
