Baumgarten e l'ens rationis ratiocinantis: un concetto al confine tra ontologia e psicologia empirica

Baumgarten ascribes, although not exclusively, the production of entia ficta to Reason. This topic is closely linked with another metaphysical subject: the somnium obiective sumptum, that is to say the opposite of the true Word ruled by transcendental truth. Baumgarten's statement is also connected with a terminological change. In this paper, my aim is to show the novelty of Baumgarten's thesis and its reason. Firstly, I will consider very briefly some statements of Wolff about the ens fictum. Secondly, I will illustrate some possible sources for Baumgarten's terminological innovation. In the conclusion, I will present some relevant positions of Baumgarten's Metaphysic and Aesthetic, in order to show that the original thesis about the production of entia ficta is closely related with new consideration of the sensible knowledge and with the unity of the subject, which is essentially demanded by it.
