The study reports the evaluations of energy recovery through the train braking. The simulations were carried out on an Italian 3 kV d.c. railway line used for high frequency transport. Several cases of braking phases were studied and the energy returned into the system, used by other trains, was reported. The energy dissipated on the on-board rheostat are also highlighted, considering the possibility of reintroducing the recovered energy into the primary power supply through reversible ESSs or storage in ESSs.

Abstract
The study reports the evaluations of energy recovery through the train braking. The simulations were carried out on an Italian 3 kV d.c. railway line used for high frequency transport. Several cases of braking phases were studied and the energy returned into the system, used by other trains, was reported. The energy dissipated on the on-board rheostat are also highlighted, considering the possibility of reintroducing the recovered energy into the primary power supply through reversible ESSs or storage in ESSs.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
