La resa della fraseologia dei Fratelli Karamazov di Dostoevskij nelle traduzioni italiane

The article deals with the issue of translation into Italian of the phraseology in the Dostoevsky’s novel The Brothers Karamazov. The translating strategies are being analyzed based on two characteristics of Dostoevsky’s phraseology: the use of lexical and syntactic archaisms which reflect the linguistic norm of the Russian language of the XIX century, and occasional units – transformed and coined expressions. The analysis of selected two Italian versions of the novel, carried out for the purpose of this research, has revealed that the archaic phraseological units are translated in most cases with those from modern Italian language. The predominance of modernizing strategy proves Dostoevsky’s archaic style to be the main difficulty in translating his phraseology.
