The paper aims to provide a brief description of two of the different ways to spend the EU budget under direct management (procurements and grants) in the light of the new Financial Regulation applicable to the general budget of the European Union adopted in July 2018 aimed at establishing simpler, more transparent and more flexible rules for the management of EU funds by European Institutions.
