Dynamic characteristics of linear structural systems are governed by natural frequencies and mode-shapes. In this work we focus on linear discrete structures dependent by a random parameter, assumed to be Gaussian. A perturbation approach is adopted in order to perform a computationally advantageous solution strategy. We at first study the random eigensolution and its statistics, then propose an identification technique to estimate the mean and the variance of the random parameter. The method is applied for the stochastic structural identification of a four degree-of-freedom random system.
