The article deals with the painted fragments found during the excavations of Roman domus discovered in the ancient colony of Ariminum (268 BC): 1978 and 1981 in the center of the modern town of Rimini it was possible to identify the remains of different rooms as parts of a Roman residential context with an open area nearby; the investigation of the stratigraphy and of the finds shows that the domus was partially rebuild and refurbished during the 1st half of the 2nd cent AD, at least during the Hadrian’s reign. Many fragment of parietal decorations were found in the two cisterns located in the open area closed to the residential part: all these items seem to belong to a precious life phase of the domestic complex. The systematic documentation and analysis of the painted fragments lead to the recognition of the typical decorative motifs of the 4th Pompeian style and thus provide convincingly a chronological interpretation of the fragments at the 2nd half of the 1st cent. AD.

Many fragment of parietal decorations were found in the two cisterns located in the open area closed to the residential part: all these items seem to belong to a precious life phase of the domestic complex.
