In the last decades, by virtue of the overcoming of the Saussurean vulgata, especially after the publication of the Ecrits de linguistique générale, the reflections on the double essence of the language has revealed the inadequacy of the dichotomies from which classical structuralism arose. In this new context, the couples nature/culture, langue/parole, synchrony/diachrony, syntagmatic/associative etc. appear as methodological premises or as antinomies which have to be understood in dialectical terms, so that they cannot be solved, but only pragmatically composed. In particular, if the dichotomy nature/culture, with the preponderance of the latter over the former, seemed to include Saussurism (and Structuralism) in a paradigm of extreme culturalism, a better comprehension of the Saussurean philosophy could pave the way for a new symbolic materialism, denying an ontological structuralism and its anti-naturalistic implications. The paper aims to show that a rethinking of the dialectic between faculté du langage and langue(s) and a reconstruction of the notions of sign and of semiotic threshold could allow a better focalisation of the Embodied Cognition perspective, and in particular of the Radically Enactive Embodied approach.
