Based on a stylistic and rhetorical analysis, this article identifies in the tenth pseudepigraphic letter of the Corpus Hippocraticum the structure and the rhetorical expedients of an invocatory hymn, whereby Hippocrates is presented as a divinity for the Abderites. The argument is that this pseudepigraphic text contributes to the construction of the image of the “divine Hippocrates” which emerges strongly in the Hellenistic time.
