Heller myotomy with Toupet fundoplication represents a well-known surgical treatment for achalasia [1]. Robotic surgery has theoretical advantages over laparoscopy, including superior dexterity provided by articulated arms, three-dimensional imaging, stable camera controlled by the surgeon and fine motion scaling. In the setting of Heller myotomy, robotic surgery has been associated in some retrospective cohort studies with decreased mucosal injury rate and hospital stay in comparison with conventional laparoscopy.

Abstract
Heller myotomy with Toupet fundoplication represents a well-known surgical treatment for achalasia [1]. Robotic surgery has theoretical advantages over laparoscopy, including superior dexterity provided by articulated arms, three-dimensional imaging, stable camera controlled by the surgeon and fine motion scaling. In the setting of Heller myotomy, robotic surgery has been associated in some retrospective cohort studies with decreased mucosal injury rate and hospital stay in comparison with conventional laparoscopy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
