The asbestos is a mineral with a fibrous structure in the group of natural hydrous silicates, present in the rocky form in many parts of the world with particular focus on countries such as Canada, Russia and South Africa. The only asbestos mines on the European continent are located in Italy and Greece. The term “asbestos” embraces a family of silicates which occur as flexible bundles of thin fibre units with nanometric diameter and micrometric to millimetric length.
