Some unpublished documents provide a more complete sight about the realization of the chapel of the Crucifix in the Church of S. Andrea delle Fratte in Rome. It was created, starting from 1661, by Giovanni Somazzi, a marble craftsman who had worked in many relevant buildingsites and with important architects such as Borromini, Bernini and Virgilio Spada, as well as in various chapels, during the Seventeenth century. These experiences led him to take inspiration from various sites to compose, in a personal and autonomous way, the lay-out in S. Abstract
Andrea that freely syncretices, only with quarry stones, lexical elements from other Roman chaplaincy, drawing also from a peculiar and not of frequent use symbolic repertory.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
