Abstract

In this paper we introduce a GPU-based reformulation of the distributed MEC algorithm for the error correction of pair-end short reads. Our proposal allows for a deep parallelization of two of the most computationally heavy steps of the original algorithm while using a GPU processing unit rather than a traditional distributed supercomputing facility.
