Il quartiere a sud dell’Acropoli di Atene. Analisi e ricostruzione di un paesaggio urbano

Το πρόγραμμα Άτλας της ρωμαϊκής Αθήνας προβλέπει την πραγματοποίηση ενός GIS ικανού να διαχειριστεί όλες τις πηγές πληροφόρησης που χρειάζονται για την ανασύνθεση του αστικού τοπίου της αρχαίας πόλης στις διάφορες φάσεις της. Η συνοικία ανάμεσα στις νότιες πλαγιές της Ακρόπολης και τα τείχη ήταν η πρώτη που ερευνήθηκε με μεθοδολογική προσέγγιση επεξεργασμένη για τη συγκεκριμένη εργασία. Παρουσιάζονται τα προκαταρκτικά αποτελέσματα της έρευνας αυτής χάρη στα οποία στάθηκε δυνατόν να προταθεί μια καινούρια ανάγνωση της πολεοδομικής ιστορίας της νότιας περιοχής της πόλης από την ελληνιστική μέχρι την ύστερη ρωμαϊκή περίοδο.

The project Roman Athens focuses on the creation of a GIS which will allow the management of all the sources of information suitable for recreating urban landscapes in ancient cities. The area located between the Acropolis southern slope and the city walls has been the first to be investigated applying the methodological approach developed for this work. The preliminary results arising from this research are presented in this article. We propose a new interpretation of the urban history of the South area of the city between the Hellenistic age and the Late Roman period.

Il progetto Atene romana prevede la realizzazione di un GIS capace di gestire tutte le fonti di informazione utili alla ricostruzione dei paesaggi urbani della città antica. Il quartiere compreso tra le pendici meridionali dell’Acropoli e le mura è stato il primo a essere indagato secondo l’approccio metodologico elaborato per questo lavoro. Si presentano di seguito i risultati preliminari di questa ricerca grazie ai quali è stato possibile proporre una nuova lettura della storia urbana dell’area meridionale della città dall’epoca ellenistica all’età tardo romana.
