Espressione, rappresentazione, giudizio. Osservazioni sul concetto di Besonnenheit in Herder

Since the pubblication of the Essay on origin of language, the concept of Besonnenheit has been one of the most controversial issues of Herder’s philosophy of mind. Nowadays its interpretation receives a renewed interest from both a historical and a theoretical point of view. Actually, Herder’s modell is often involved in current debates between representationalists and expressivists about the issue of meaning. The paper discusses this opposing interpretations, exploring a third way, focused on Herder’s materialistic revisitation of the kantian notion of judgement.
