Mobile technology is a field of intensive research and steady development. Edutainment is emerging as one of the most innovative use of technological applications in teaching/learning activities and it offers various opportunities for the third generation (3G) mobile devices, such as PDAs and smart phones. In this paper we explore mobile services and applications in the edutainment area and we concentrate both on educational tools for learners on the move and on the use of XML in the development of these mobile services.
