This paper aims to analyze the structure and meanings of the Latin indefinite pronouns that can be traced back to the Indo-European root *kw-e-/*kw-i. All of them are morphologically derivational forms: this property is supported by typological studies. We investigate the formal types of Latin indefinite pronouns in order to give an exact description of them, mostly by considering the Universal Asymmetries Markedness relationship of Haspelmath (1997). The remarks are used to give a new proposal for a vexata quaestio of Indo-European and typological studies: the derivational relationship between indefinite and interrogative pronouns.

Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the structure and meanings of the Latin indefinite pronouns that can be traced back to the Indo-European root *kw-e-/*kw-i. All of them are morphologically derivational forms: this property is supported by typological studies. We investigate the formal types of Latin indefinite pronouns in order to give an exact description of them, mostly by considering the Universal Asymmetries Markedness relationship of Haspelmath (1997). The remarks are used to give a new proposal for a vexata quaestio of Indo-European and typological studies: the derivational relationship between indefinite and interrogative pronouns.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
