The paper seeks to analyse pottery artefacts from a functional perspective. Bronze Age pottery productionfrom Southern Italy is taken into consideration. A classification is proposed on the basis of functional elements. An approach is suggested that leads from the arcaheological recors to the interpretation of pottery use and its role in the context of Bronze Age southern Italy
