Seismic Survey of some pillars of Coliseum (Rome,Italy)

Coliseum, the well known Monument of ancient Rome, has been in the latest years the object of investigation carried out in order to verify its stability. Within the scope of the project, the building materials and their state of conservation have carefully examined. This paper describes the methods adopted and results of a seismic survey of some pillars of the Monument. Seismivc waves were produced with an hammer and recorded by microphones placed around the pillars. Recorded data have been elaborated with tomographic techniques.
