Introduction: Epstein -Barr Virus (EBV) can cause intraocular inflammation and in some cases, althoug occasionally, has been showed to be responsible for intermediate uveitis. Purpose of this study is to describe a peculiar of EBV vitritis associated with peripheral polyneuropathy. Case report: A 40 years old patient presented with long-standing bilateral intermediate uveitis resistant to steroid therapy and associated with peripheral polyneuropathy. Bilateral vitrectomy surgery was necessary. The search for viral DNA by PCR in the vitreous sample allowed to isolate high EBV title. Conclusions: We suggest that EBV might be responsible for both uveitis and neurological manifestations. Vitrectomy was necessary for the improvement of the inflammation and the visual prognosis and for a correct diagnosis. Key words: Epstein - Barr virus, intermediate uveitis, polyneuropathy, vitritis
