The data provided by the National Institute for Statistics showed that, over the last ten years, the youth employment rate (15-34 years) has decreased by 10.2 percentage points. However, if we look at the segments, the young unemployment rate has considerably increased both for the young adults 15-24 years of age (from 20.4% in 2007 to 34.7% in 2017) and for the young adults 25-34 years (from 8.3% to 17%). In addition, a further phenomenon that we must take into consideration is the so-called NEET, young people who are longer in the education system, who are not working or being trained for work. For this reason, the aim of this work is to investigate the employment dynamics of young people in the Italian context by examining the aspects mentioned above. More in detail, especially with reference to the NEET category, we're going to explore the following aspects: gender, educational level and activity status. The analysis will be conducted with the aid of secondary data analyzed from a longitudinal perspective (from 2007 to 2017) and taking into account the territorial division.
