The chronic application of topical antiglaucoma medications produces alterations in the ocular surface and, in particular, it causes iatrogenic damage to the mucus layer of the tear film and to the conjunctiva. There is increasing literature documenting the adverse effects of topical antiglaucoma therapy to the conjunctival goblet cells with quantitative and qualitative alterations of ocular surface mucins, which constitute the inner most layer of the tear film. Further studies are necessary toinvestigate the antiglaucoma topical medications more responsible of alterations inthe ocular surface
