«e con la morte l’informe niente». L’infinito di Carducci

A close examination of the use of the adjective "informe" in the poems of Giosuè Carducci shows how at the beginning of his career the poet used this word in the same meanings as informis in classical Latin authors such as Virgil and Horace, but later on he developed an original interpretation, so to say, of the term, so that it becomes an expression of a poetical idea that is typical of Carducci’s poetry.
