Il sistema informativo sul turismo in Italia: proposte operative per la policy

The expansion of the information and availability of data on tourism have been included among the main objectives of the National Strategic Plan for Tourism 2017-22. This article follows up the national strategy by proposing actions. Specifically, we i) present some caveats about the suitability of the current system to support policymaking in the touristic sector; ii) propose possible guidelines on how to extend the Italian system of tourism statistics by exploiting existing data sources; iii) flesh out a set of concrete actions to operationalize the general objectives set by the National Strategic Plan, included the adoption of nowcasting models.
