Over the past decade, there has been a steady emergence of community engagement in urban food production. This paper considers how design activism is expressed through urban gardening and how citizens seek to transform and challenge the quality of urban space through two examples. By situating urban gardening within design, the paper proposes new platforms of engagement for designers, while considering a more inclusive model of what constitutes design practice.

Abstract
Over the past decade, there has been a steady emergence of community engagement in urban food production. This paper considers how design activism is expressed through urban gardening and how citizens seek to transform and challenge the quality of urban space through two examples. By situating urban gardening within design, the paper proposes new platforms of engagement for designers, while considering a more inclusive model of what constitutes design practice.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
