n order to study the relationship between plasma and urinary levels of Tryptophan, whose values were found to be increased in bladder cancer patients, a mathematical model of the Tryptophan reabsorption-excretion process was devised. The model embodies the mass balance between glomerular filtration, carrier-mediated reabsorption and excretion of the Tryptophan. The model parameters were estimated by the Maximum Likelihood procedure, using a set of clinical data measured on 30 bladder cancer patients and 7 healthy controls. Our study demostrates that Tryptophan excretion, in both groups subjects, is due to an overflow phenomenon without a clearcut threshold

Abstract
n order to study the relationship between plasma and urinary levels of Tryptophan, whose values were found to be increased in bladder cancer patients, a mathematical model of the Tryptophan reabsorption-excretion process was devised. Our study demostrates that Tryptophan excretion, in both groups subjects, is due to an overflow phenomenon without a clearcut thresholdI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
