The article is focused on the Brief Exposition of the View (Tib. lTa ba’i stong thun), an inedited treasure-text (gter ma) belonging to the collection styled Yang rtse klong chen or Yongs rtse klong chen, which represents one of the three most revered Bonpo canonical sources dealing with the transmission of Great Perfection (rdzogs pa chen po) tenets. The reason for introducing this emblematic text is determined by its semiotic pertinence within the framework of the project objectives, in that it approaches the metaphysical subject-matter of the View—the pivotal axiom which governs all rDzogs pa chen po doctrines in both Bon po and rNying ma exegetical and soteriological literature—from a distinctively eclectic perspective. The text accentuates the indispensable role played by the masters of the transmission, legitimacy, and authenticity of the transmission lineages. It is translated and accompanied by comments and contextualized remarks on its salient points.
