Abstract
In Sicily and in some other places in our country, there were several artisans whose jobs were to decorate some churches, some buildings for holy or traditional festivals. In Sicily, we had the apparatura, so called, because they worked especially during the religious holidays, making gorgeous decorations inside the churches with handma-de materials. The cultural changes and a new lifestyle in our society have caused the disappearance of this king of popular art whose interesting features dating back to the Baroque prosperity. In fact, the apparatura were won-derful and amazing for the audience, in some way, reflec-ting the greatness and the magnificence of those who commissioned their realization. This study is the result of a personal research started some years ago and it testi-fies the latest craftsmen’s job who are still existing in Si-cily and based on an ancient tradition that otherwise would have completely disappeared. In particular, the decoration is focused on the so called apparatura, a craftsmen family that still is operating in Palermo.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
