Violence against healthcare personnel: distribution and effects on health and well-being of workers. Investigation at Sandro Pertini Hospital in Rome.

In the last decade, violence against health personnel by patients and/or their family members has increased and the strategies implemented by health organizations are not sufficiently set to contain the phenomenon adequately. Therefore, I made an investigation to identify the spread of aggressions and the consequences on the well-being of the health staff of Sandro Pertini hospital in Rome in the period 2009-2014. The goal was to highlight the possible psychological and social impact, in order to expand the knowledge on the subject. The results showed that 90.2% of respondents have suffered the consequences of aggression, particularly perceived on their emotional state, working habits, health and wellbeing, lifestyle and out-side-work behaviour.
