Triumphs and Laments. Un progetto per Roma di William Kentridge, Piazza Trastevere, Roma

A project for Rome entitled "Triumphs and Laments" is a contemporary art work by the South African William Kentridge. The project was inspired by the legend surrounding the foundation of the eternal city on 21 April 753 B.C. This no-profit multidisciplinary project is exhibited in Piazza Tevere, part of the embankment walls of the Tiber between Ponte Sisto and Ponte Mazzini. The drawing is a 500 meter-long frieze stretching between the two bridges on the right bank of the river; it contains eighty figures up to ten meters high representing Rome's greatest victories and defeats from mythological time.

Il progetto per Roma dal titolo "Triumphs and Laments" è un'opera contemporanea realizzata dall'artista sudafricano William Kentridge che riprende la leggenda che narra la fondazione della città eterna il 21aprile del 753 a.C. Un vero e proprio progetto multidisciplinare no-profit destinato a piazza Tevere, il tratto della banchina del fiume che si trova fra Ponte Sisto e Ponte Mazzini. Il disegno raffigura un fregio lungo cinquecentocinquanta metri posto fra i due ponti, sulla sponda destra del fiume, e ospita più di ottanta figure alte fino a dieci metri che commemorano le grandi vittorie e le sconfitte dei tempi mitologici.
