The growth and economic development forecast prefigures an increase in food demand, especially for animal origin products. In this perspective, the current patterns of agricultural development, ever more agro-industrial, have shown inefficiencies and unbalances which wouldn’t make them proposed again in the future. In fact, on one hand, agro-industrial patterns have enabled us to achieve important results in terms of agricultural productivity and access to food, on the other side, they are responsible for the main critical issues of the current agrofood systems: the malnutrition that, in its different manifestations involves about 40% of the world’s populations; food wastes and losses so that about one third of world production has been wasted; an oligopoly controlling the market of the main agricultural productive factors leading to serious distortion of free competition; environmental issues mainly arising from industrialised agriculture, especially zootechnical productions. The aim of this paper is to underline how, in order to meet the growing food needs, the necessary corrective actions to rectify the critical issue of current systems must be put in place, such as a better management of available resources and a change in food consumption patterns.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to underline how, in order to meet the growing food needs, the necessary corrective actions to rectify the critical issue of current systems must be put in place, such as a better management of available resources and a change in food consumption patterns.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
