The relationship between hydrogen content and induced embrittlement of AISI 9840 steel has been studied. In particular, the reduction in area during tensile tests has been compared with the hydrogen content of the specimen, splitting the hydrogen content between the different temperature at which it can be extracted. It has been found that only hydrogen contained in traps from which it can be extracted at 400 °C is dangerous and reduces the toughness of the material

Abstract
The relationship between hydrogen content and induced embrittlement of AISI 9840 steel has been studied. In particular, the reduction in area during tensile tests has been compared with the hydrogen content of the specimen, splitting the hydrogen content between the different temperature at which it can be extracted. It has been found that only hydrogen contained in traps from which it can be extracted at 400 °C is dangerous and reduces the toughness of the materialI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
