In the contemporary debate on the culture of the sustainability the globalization processes are defined as changing factors towards a new cultural pluralism, new theories and values paradigms. The main contributions to these results are given by several cross-national surveys to investigate the value orientations to monitor the changes, especially when their actors are young people. The researchers of “the future European citizens” stress the common cultural heritage and its imprinting, but also the difficult to reach a value models homogeneity. Nevertheless, in the families, at the work, in the friendship, in the social and political engagements you can find renewed needs of security with the post-modernity trends to freedom and self-expression. The aim of this article is to verify these phenomena through the results of a survey about the value orientations of the students of Sapienza University of Rome, especially their attitudes towards the plan of an individual and collective future as functional strategy after the experience of the modernity.
