This pchapter contains a presentation of Iranian pre-Islamic mythology focusing on a number of aspects of mythical history as presented in the Avestan and Middle Persian tradition, both attesting the birth of Iranian National history.
The Wiley Blackwell Companion to Zoroastrainism edited by M. Stausberg and Y. S. Vevaina is today the reference work on Zoroastrianism. The main specialists of the field have contributed chapters to this very important work covering the Zoroastrian faith from its beginnings to present times. The chapter "Myth, Legends, Eschatologies" is a costituent part of the section on "Structure, Discourses and dimensions". It's main focus is on Zoroastrian mythical history as narrated in anccient and medieval texts.
