This book deals with an analysis of the best available technologies and strategies for the planning of coastal sustainable infrastructures, identifying innovative building envelope technologies and technical smart solutions. Particularly, active systems ha- ve been investigated for heating and electricity production, considering solar and wind energy sources, while the use of sustainable local materials and the reuse and upcycling of wastes have been analysed for low energy building envelope design. La- stly, some pilot cases of environmentally sound coastal facilities and service buil- dings have been planned and designed according to local contexts. The book has been written under GREAT Med international project, financed by the EU under the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme.

Abstract
This book deals with an analysis of the best available technologies and strategies for the planning of coastal sustainable infrastructures, identifying innovative building envelope technologies and technical smart solutions. Particularly, active systems ha- ve been investigated for heating and electricity production, considering solar and wind energy sources, while the use of sustainable local materials and the reuse and upcycling of wastes have been analysed for low energy building envelope design. La- stly, some pilot cases of environmentally sound coastal facilities and service buil- dings have been planned and designed according to local contexts.
